What equipment is required for chicken farming?

1. Feeding equipment. This includes chick feeders primarily used for intensive chick rearing during the initial phase. Currently available chick feeders come in round and square designs, each accommodating 80 to 100 chicks.
2. Feeder troughs: Used for chickens over two weeks old. Consists of a suspended feeder bucket and a shallow circular tray slightly larger in diameter. The bucket and tray are connected by a short chain, allowing adjustment of their distance. The bucket holds a larger feed supply, which automatically flows through the gap between its lower rim and the tray. The base tray uses commercially available feeders in various sizes (4-10 kg), suitable for both floor and raised-floor systems. As chicks grow, the feeder height is gradually increased, typically adjusting the rim height to match the chicken's shoulder level when standing.
3. Feed Troughs. Typically constructed from wood, galvanized steel, or hard plastic. Suitable for both cage and floor systems. All trough edges should be inwardly curved to prevent chickens from pecking and damaging feed. To prevent chickens from stepping into the trough and contaminating feed, a rotating wooden rod can be placed at the trough opening.
4. Chain-driven automatic feeders. These consist of feed troughs, feed bins, a drive unit, chain-linked corner adapters, dust collectors, and trough supports. Feed is transported from the bin to the troughs via chains. Each chicken requires 10 to 12 cm of trough space. Maximum feeding length can reach 300 meters. These feeders are reliable, easy to maintain, and perform well, suitable for both floor and cage feeding systems.
5. Overhead Feeder. This straddle-type feeder operates above chicken cages, primarily for cage systems. It moves along overhead tracks, distributing feed from hoppers to individual troughs. Based on hopper configuration, it comes in top-mounted and cage-straddling types. The top-mounted feeder features a single hopper with an agitator at its base. During operation, the rotating mechanism pushes feed through six pipes for even distribution into the troughs. The cage-spanning type is configured according to cage layout, with a small rectangular feed box spanning each row of troughs. The box's conical, flat-bottomed opening directs feed into the troughs as it rotates along the cages, allowing feed to flow down the cone surface into the troughs.
